On a more serious note though perhaps I’m obsessed with this because I want more sympathy for characters who externalize their problems. Fuck being a perfect victim fuck being a decent one, something horrible was done to you and it was never recognized and you will never ever get back the person you were before, you had everything taken from you and now all you’re left with is anger and sharp things and you know what. You should be able to bite people about it
To me, the absolute funniest quest stage in all of Fallout: New Vegas is the one where you have the option to dump the nuclear waste from the truck down a ravine into Cottonwood Cove, thereby killing all the legion soldiers stationed there. I can never stop cracking up at the sight of every last man in that camp running full tilt towards the pile of nuclear waste drums and then dying so suddenly from the radiation that they just ragdoll, dead before they hit the ground. And then they just keep coming! They just keep running after seeing X number of their peers dying in this way! There’s no shouting or anything! Just dudes and guys running into the waste and flinging their souls from their bodies with the speed and ferocity of a Gatling gun! And the last dude, who takes like a full minute to catch up with the main pack. Like what is going on in his head? He sees this pile of corpses next to barrels stamped with nuclear waste hazard imagery and he’s like well maybe it won’t happen to me. Bro?? Sending this unprompted while replaying FNV. I hope you are having a fine day.
You forgot that the cherry on top of that whole quest stage is that later when you meet Cursor Lucullus, the ferryman to Fortification Hill who picks you up at Cottonwood Cove, he’s wearing a full radiation suit and he literally says “Dammit, I always told those guys that they shouldn’t set up a base under the truck full of radioactive barrels! Now look what they did!”
